Today Alan Wilson, a long time member of the Wharfedale Gardeners’ Group, gave a slide presentation about his love of gardening, his successes and his frustrations.
Alan, who lives in Otley, has a north facing garden below the Chevin that only gets sunshine about 9 months of the year. Gardening in this situation is a challenge.
With other members of the club he has visited most of the celebrated gardens in the UK and has also ventured abroad to see some of the alpine gardens of Europe. He has obtained many plants as a result of these visits but has been particularly disappointed when he has discovered that they just would not grow in his garden.
However Alan was very enthusiastic about the gardens he had visited and the plants he had seen which was evident from the number and variety of slides he presented.
All in all, a very interesting talk enjoyed by the 38 members attending today.
