Today we had our Christmas Party. We dispensed with the usual biscuits and instead had a slice of Christmas cake and a piece of cheese with our morning coffee. Then followed the traditional quizzes, one general knowledge and the other anagrams of well known Christmas sayings. Ken had bought Ferrero Rocher as a prize for winners of the quizzes. Each member of the 4 man winning team got one each (not box, a chocolate). We were then treated to a festive poem from our Chairman about how “Santa was from Halifax”. The morning was due to conclude with the traditional singing of Christmas carols but there appeared to be a problem with the music stand on the piano. Someone managed to unscrew this from the piano with a view to re-fixing it the other way round. In the meantime the reserve quiz was brought into use and another four chocolates were dispensed to the winning team. Brian’s music had now been propped up by a stack of books stood on the piano and the carol singing proceeded without further ado. Pity we didn’t get the music stand screwed back on the piano before the caretaker arrived at the end of our session.
