Today’s talk on Vancouver and British Columbia was given by one of our member’s, Tom Elkington. Tom was born on Vancouver Island and showed us slides of how it was then and how it has changed with the increase in tourism. Although the traditional industries of logging, mining and fishing still continue. The presentation included many stunning views of the mountains, lakes and forests of British Columbia. Tom gave us some interesting statistics. The province is almost 4 times the size of Great Britain and the population of the south east corner of England is more than the total population of Canada. The talk ended with an enthusiastic question and answer session. Next meeting March 6th “Jungle Look” by Chris Freeman.
