It is customary each year for Forum to invite wives and partners of both present and past members to the first meeting in December, held in the main hall to accommodate more than twice the normal attendance. At the start of this meeting guests are offered coffee and mince pies, invited to take part in the raffle and then to enjoy the entertainment. This year we were rewarded with an excellent musical morning in the company of The Fairfax Singers, a local mixed group choir of some 38 members led by Dorothy Hawkshaw with pianist Michael Nicholas and soloist Judith Barnett.
During the first part of the morning the choir sang a medley of songs from the shows along with one or two of their own specialities . Then after an interlude when the raffle prizes were drawn, the choir moved into a more festive mood with Christmas Songs and a selection of carols to which the audience were invited to join in.
The last meeting to be held on December 19th is another members morning. Traditionally this takes the form of a quiz, seasonal fare followed by a hearty singing of carols selected by the members.
